US scheduled maintenance


We will be conducting maintenance on one of our US data centre networks, on 31st Oct - 1st Nov at 9pm CST - 6am CST
We do not expect any connection downtime, but higher latency may occur (slightly slower connection) during this period.

New UK website

We plan to launch our new UK service website tomorrow (30/10/12) Our three brand new sites join up all of our existing services, and make signing up and setting up, easier than ever. We have added greater backend capacity and our techies done everything possible to make our connection as fast and reliable as possible. We are convinced there is no better service available at the cost.

Christmas gift

If you have friends or family living abroad why not gift them our My Expat Network service. It's the perfect way to keep in touch with home, and will really make your loved one's Christmas special. All you need to do is to sign up, and forward the Username and Password sent to you by Paypal to the lucky recipient. They can then use the credentials to install on their desktop machine or set up their mobile device. Please note that our software only works on one machine or up to three mobile devices.

We have had all of our websites re-designed and have today launched our new US service site and our My Expat Telly site. We will be launching the new website for our UK service early next week.

Olympics over, Paralympics next !

IMPORTANT : New subscribers with Mac 10.8


The new Mac OS 10.8 Mountain Lion requires a new digitally certified version of our software. We are working as fast as possible to build this certification into our VPN client. If you are a new subscriber to our service and use Mac 10.8, when you first run the application you will need to hold ctrl and click on the MyExpatNet app in order to bring up the contextual menu, then select Open.
You then need to accept that our software is not yet digitally certified, and continue.

We will post on our website, blog and facebook as soon as we have the certified version of our software available.

Subscription server fixed

We have resolved the problem with the new subscription servers. As from 07.45 BST new subscriptions were being accepted normally. Apologies to those new My Expat Network members who encountered this issue.

Sign up errors

We currently have a problem with our server that handles new subscriptions. We are working on this urgently and will post when it is resolved. We may need to remove the subscription button from our website in the mean time to prevent any new subscribers from encountering a problem.

Mac OSX 10.8

The latest version of Mac OSX is out today. Our existing Mac software is not compatible with the new version OSX 10.8. We are working on an update, and we will post here as soon as it is available. In the mean time we advise that if you wish to keep watching your favourite TV shows online, you don't upgrade to 10.8 just yet.
However...we do have a fairly complicated workaround that will allow 10.8 to work with our VPN, but it's not for the fainthearted. If your IT skills are "beginner" we suggest you hang on for the time being.

Power Outage

We had a power outage overnight at one of our data centres which disconnected our mobile device service. This problem has now been resolved and normal service has been resumed. This matter was beyond our control but please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Intermittant problem 6th May 2012

We are still experiencing a low level hardware failure on one of our servers. This new server is currently being taken out of service and we are temporarily reverting back to the old one. We can only apologise for the inconveniece, and assure you that we are doing everything as quickly as possible to resolve this problem.

Server Maintenance Friday 4th July 2012


We have scheduled server maintenance due to happen between 11.30pm - 1.30am GMT on Friday 4th May

During this time our subscription process will be down: max. 2 hours.
New subscribers will NOT be able to subscribe during this time.

Our Mobile service will be down for 30mins in that 2hour window.
If you are connected on a mobile during this time you will not lose your connection,
but if you try to establish a new connection during this time you will not be connected.

We apologise for any inconvenience, but this work is essential to keep our service levels as high as possible.

Server failure fixed 31/03/2012

We have now resolved the issue with one of our servers from earlier today. The problem was fixed at around 4.00pm BST and we are now confident that normal service has been resumed. Apologies to those affected, can you please use the "Contact Us" form on our website if you require a refund.

Server problem 31/03/2012

We currently have a problem with an Authentication server that is causing usernames and passwords not to be recognised. This is affecting new subscribers and a few existing mobile device service subscribers.
We apologise for any inconvenience, and have our techies working hard fixing things right now. We wil post here once the system is up and running again. We will of course refund any new customers who have not been able to connect.

NEW App Directory

We have added a new UK App directory to our My Expat Telly website so users of mobile devices can link directly to relevant Apps for their mobile devices. Also some of our subscribers have problems accessing their UK iTunes accounts to buy Apps etc from abroad. The following instructions will give you access to the UK iTunes Store :


  1. In the left hand menu in iTunes, click iTunes Store > Sign Out
  2. Click on any App logo to open an App Store page
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page, and click on the flag icon of the country you are in (bottom right)
  4. On the following page, scroll down until you see the country of your choice, in this case the Union Jack. Click on the flag logo.
  5. This will take you to the UK iTunes Store. Click 'Sign In' top right or select "Create a new account"

NEW Troubleshooting page

We have added a troubleshooting page to our UK Expat Network and US Expat Network sites. We have included most troubleshooting issues on these pages, but sometimes an odd or unusual problem arises so please use the "Contact Us" form on our website if you can't find a solution there. Our Helpdesk guys will always do their best to respond on the same day.

Selected Ads

We are currently working with some selected Expat related companies to host some advertising on our My Expat Telly site. These companies are known to us and are reputable business offering the highest standards of service. We have until now avoided affiliate advertising schemes as the quality of the companies we may end up advertising would not be known to us, and we would have no control over this.
Using our extensive contacts, and after several requests we are now accepting limited advertising to our My Expat Telly site, as the traffic to that site is rapidly increasing. If you run or work for any company that may like to advertise with us we are of course always happy to talk. The best way to contact us would be via our Facebook page. We have no plans to offer advertising on any other of our My Expat sites and will continue with Google Adsense adverts on our blog.

My Expat Telly

We have had a great response to our new online TV directory, My Expat Telly
We are planning to run a news feed on the Expat telly page to keep our subscribers up to date with new and exciting developments that we have in the pipeline. Our Facebook page will continue as usual, and will allow you to keep in touch with us.
2012 has started well and we will to continue to offer a great service to all our members, whilst keeping our subscription price at £5.00 per month for the third year in a row.
